A giant fire broke out on Monday morning in a footwear factory located in outer Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area. At least six fire tenders rushed to the spot to control the fire.
A fire officer told that the fire broke out on the ground floor of the factory around 9:30 am. Atul Garg, chief fire officer, Delhi Fire Services said that the blaze just took a few minutes to spread to the entire ground floor area of the factory. The reason for the fire breakout is still to be discovered.
“No casualties have been reported so far. The fire tenders are dousing the blaze and the situation is under control,” another fire officer informed.
Several factories located in industrial areas of Narela and Bawana sit on the verge of areas that are prone to fire breakouts. Many of the factories present there are illegal and have very little or no arrangements to deal with in case of a fire. Such incidents have become frequent in these areas. Last month around 17 people were burnt to death following a blaze in a cracker manufacturing unit in neighboring area of Bawana.
