Dhaka hosted an international exhibition on leather accessories, machinery, chemicals and components on Thursday, November 22, 2018. This was aimed at bringing all the latest technologies under one roof for the sector insiders. Machinery for manufacturing footwear and leather goods, tanning leather along with components, accessories, chemicals and dyes, and allied products were showcased by more than 300 exhibitors from different countries like India Pakistan and China who participated in the three-day fair.
The exhibition was organised by ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, a local event management company in collaboration with Bangladesh leather industry insiders.
The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed was present at the inaugural ceremony among others.
Director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, Nanda Gopal said that even though the exhibitors were from many different countries, a vast majority was from China who established trade relations with customers in the seaport city of Chittagong and the capital Dhaka.
The sales manager of Chinese Lishui Jiaxin Leather Company Limited, Linda Lin said they were in Bangladesh to attend the fair for the first time and praised the atmosphere. According to her, Bangladesh is a big market for the company and the customers are warm in their acceptance of the Chinese firms.
Running Tiger (Bangladesh) Limited provides Bangladeshi local shoe manufacturers with new technologies from China. Managing director of Running Tiger, Tiger Yang says the shoe factories in Bangladesh has a lot of potentials and is a big consumer for the new tech that his company brings in.
