Officials employed with Pune airport’s electrical department said that a 300kWp solar plant is going to be installed at the airport hangar. Forming a part of the dream of operating all the airports in the country on completely solar power, the AAI (Airport Authority of India) is up with the plan of implementing its first solar power plant at Lohegaon airport at the earliest. Few days ago, Airport Authority of Pune via its official Twitter account informed the general public regarding the construction of a brand new solar plant of 300kWP within its premise. Also the tweet claimed that this project will be wrapped up by 31st March, 2018.

The tweet made by the officials read “Pune airport will have a solar power plant by March 31. The tender process for the work has been completed. The total cost of project is Rs.1.27 crore”.

Though the time given by AAI for the completion of this project is 31st March, it is suspected that the actual implementation can take up another few months. A official said that the engineers and technicians involved with the project are trying their best to get it done with perfection at the earliest without any disputes.

Here is a brief overview of the plant:

>The total cost of the plant is Rs 1.27 crore

>It will be generating about 300kWp solar energy

>The average need of solar energy by the airport is around 600-700kWp
