Hyderabad: The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers has announced to have a one-day nation-wide strike to protest the move by the Centre to introduce the Electricity Amendment Bill 2014 in Parliament.
Shailendra Dubey, Chairman, All-India Power Engineers Federation confirmed in a press note that they would observe a day’s strike if the Centre continues its decision to introduce the Bill in the Parliament. He informed that before proceeding with the strike, the engineers and power staff would hold a rally in Delhi.
Mr. Dubey said that about 2.5 million power employees and engineers that work under the banner of NCCOEEE have already initiated the campaign against the present electricity Bill by holding state-level and region-wise conventions to educate the consumers about the anti-people aspect of the Bill.
He also said that the new policies and steps being put into action which are in the name of reforms are just to favor the dishonest private players. NCCOEEE did not notice any improvement in the power sector.
